Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa says he will never decline an invitation from his national team. Musa says only the head coach, Jose Peseiro can stop him from playing for the team.

Peseiro was heavily criticized for his decision to include Musa in his 23-man squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying against Guinea-Bissau.

Recall, amid the commencement of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon Musa said he will retire from international football at the end of the competition.

However, the 30-year-old failed to honor his promise and has continued to make himself available for the Super Eagles.

In his words, “In as much as I am being invited by the coach and my body can carry me, I will continue to play for Nigeria,” Musa told a press conference in Abuja.

“The coach who invited me knows better and as a patriotic Nigerian, I can’t decline my national team invitation after so much sacrifice.”

The versatile player remains the highest-capped Nigeria player with 107 appearances.

Musa, who made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2010, has 16 goals to his name.
