Dutch second tier club, Fortuna Sittard have promptly announced a “temporary replacement” for their suspended coach Sunday Oliseh.

The new man is Claudio Braga. He will serve as head coach and Head of Youth Training.

Braga has UEFA Pro License.

“This gives him the right papers to be allowed to stand in front of the group with a professional football organization. The Portuguese born has broad experience in Dutch (youth) football. His career led him to clubs like PSV, Feijenoord, FC Utrecht, Sparta, Excelsior and the Portuguese Vitoria Setubal”, the club announced on their website.

Earlier today, the club said they were placing Sunday Oliseh on ‘non-active duties’. It was not clear whether the term was a euphemism for termination of Oliseh’s role. He joined the club in 2016.

“Fortuna Sittard immediately puts his coach Sunday Oliseh on non-active. The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer towards several persons in the organization.

” Several attempts by the club to move the trainer to other behaviour were unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation.

“The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasizes that the decision to disband Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by the current sporting performance. Because of his inadmissible actions, the coach has made the cooperation with many people within the organisation impossible. From players to employees. Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else.”

Fortuna Sittard is the professional football organisation in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1968 after a merger between Sittardia and Fortuna ’54.

Fortuna Sittard is active in the 1st division of professional football in the Netherlands in the 2017/2018 season, also known as the Jupiler League. The club is now third in the league, behind NEC and Young Ajax.
