Real Madrid and Portugal forward, Christiano Ronald made history as the Los Blancos bagged three goals on the night, one from Marcelo and two history defining goals from Christiano Ronald, bringing his UEFA Champion League goal-haul to 101. Ronaldo’s very first Champions League goal came against FC Zurich in 2009.

This was his debut game for the club in the competition following his then world record transfer from Manchester United. He scored two goals on the night, his 17th and 18th in the competition including his Man United UCL goals. From that point on, Ronaldo has gone onto net 99 goals for Los Blancos in 95 appearances in the prestigious tournament.

After coming from behind to beat Paris St-Germain 3-1 in their last-16 first-leg tie on Wednesday night, Ronaldo became the first player to score more than 100 Champions League goals for a single club. The forward has now scored 21 goals in his last 12 Champions League games and 11 in seven this season.

He has four more goals for a single club in Europe's elite competition than Barcelona rival Lionel Messi. After Messi, no-one is even close to Ronaldo's goalscoring form in the Champions League: Most Champions League goals for a single club
