Former European Champion, Robert Gardos is gearing up ahead of the 2019 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Challenge Plus Nigeria Open tournament set to hold on August 7 in Lagos.
The Austrian star would join a number of professional players to compete for the championship at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

Gardos confirmed his attendance saying the timing of the tournament fits into his schedule.

He added that he aims to make an impactful statement at the tournament as it will help with his preparation for the next Olympic games set to hold in Japan.

“I did not know much and I have never been to Nigeria before.

I am aware it is a Challenge Plus tournament which has always been well organised in an exciting atmosphere,”

“I hope to play a good level of my game and hope to make it to the last eight and be among the top four in the men’s singles.”

The European player said.

Meanwhile, Gardos says he plans to enjoy every moment in Lagos as he hasn’t visited many African Countries.
