World Number One Rafael Nadal swept Australian Nick Kyrgios aside to win the China Open, 6-2 6-1 on Sunday in Beijing. It was Nadal’s 61st win this season and his fourth final at the China Open. It was however his second title since 2005 when he beat fellow Spaniard, Coria.

Nadal lost (2013, 2015) to Novak Djokovic, who is out for the season due to injury. Nadal has now extended his win streak to 12 since August.

The Spaniard, who remains undefeated since returning to World No. 1 on 21 August, tightened his grip on the top spot in the Emirates ATP Race To London. Now up to 2,360 points separate him from Roger Federer and seems to have put himself in prime position to cap his 2017 campaign in No. 1 in stunning fashion.

Victory in Beijing gives Nadal his 75th career crown, moving to within two titles of John McEnroe for fourth on the Open Era list.

In the women’s draw Caroline Garcia of France stunned Romanian Simona Halep, who will become World Number One tomorrow, by winning the women’s singles final at the China Open tennis tournament in Beijing on Sunday.

Garcia defeated Halep 6-4 7-6. The World No.15 not only shocked Halep, she set a record of her own, by winning her second consecutive title in China and eleventh straight match. She will enter the Top 10 at World No.9 on Monday after her heroics.
