Although the unification bout between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker is still three days away, the heavyweight champions have sustained their media rivalry by promising a thrilling encounter. The WBO heavyweight champion on Tuesday during the final press conference for Saturday's fight warned Joshua to forget about his Wembley win over Wladimir Klitschko as he would provide a "sharper and stronger" challenge in Cardiff.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the New Zealander says too much focus was put on Joshua's victory over the former heavyweight king in the final press conference for Saturday's fight, live on Sky Sports Box Office, with AJ's trainer Rob McCracken suggesting that Klitschko was a tougher proposition than Parker.
According to him;
"He keeps talking about Wladimir Klitschko. Listen, I'm not Wladimir. If he's focused on Wladimir, then he's going to get a different fight altogether. Wladimir, he ran the division for a long time, he's a great fighter, and we respect him. But he was a little older and I feel like I'm younger and sharper, and stronger. But we'll find out on Saturday."
In a different interview, her described Joshua as arrogant, but warned that he was not a god. He vowed to chase him down and get him out.
“I am a champion. I am here to take his belts back, so if he sees that as a stepping stone or a change in his life then it’s up to him, whatever he thinks. But I am here to take his belts back home, for myself, for my team, for my family and country. That’s it."
On the claim by Joshua that nobody can beat him, Parker responded
"You can say it's arrogance, but it is not realistic. Of course he can be beaten, he’s not a god, he’s a human being – and I am going to show that on Saturday night. And if I do and he tries to recover, I am not going to give him the chance to recover. I am going to chase him down and get him out of there.”
