Emerging reports indicate that Liverpool playmaker, Philippe Coutinho has issued his club with a transfer request amidst, paving way for a possible move to Spanish giant, Barcelona. The transfer request is reported to have followed the club's insistence that the player is not for sale. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have so far rejected two bids from Barcelona for the Brazil international, with the latest offer believed to be around £90.4m.
The report quoted Coutinho's family member as saying "Philippe has tried very hard to find an amicable solution to this situation but to no avail. He has tremendous love for the club and its fans, but like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez have pointed out in the past, Liverpool does not let its players leave on amicable terms."
Coutinho recently signed a five-year contract to remain at Anfield till 2022 and Liverpool have insisted that no offer will be considered.
"The club's definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes," the FSG statement read, issued prior to Coutinho's transfer request.
Barcelona was rattled by Neymar's decision to join Paris Saint Germain (PSG). They are currently in the market to secure his replacement. Apart from Coutinho, the Spanish giant are believed to be also interested in Dortmund's Dembele as well as Eden Hazard.
