CHELSEA have reportedly sealed an agreement to sign Roma striker Edin Dzeko at the end of the season, El Gol Digital claims. The Blues failed in an attempt to bring former Manchester City ace Dzeko back to the Premier League during the January transfer window. According to the report, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international was reluctant to move to Stamford Bridge as a Plan B option for Antonio Conte in the middle of the season.

But, according to El Gol Digital, Chelsea remain eager to land Dzeko, despite swooping for Olivier Giroud in the mid-season sales. The Spanish publication claim Dzeko has already agreed to move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

That has reportedly come as a blow to Real Madrid, who were also interested in the 32-year-old. El Gol Digital say that Los Blancos will ‘almost certainly’ go for Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich instead.

Chelsea are likely to be in the market for a new striker when the transfer window reopens as a result of Alvaro Morata’s poor form. The Spain international has hit just one goal since Boxing Day. Dzeko has hit 17 goals in 37 appearances for Roma this season.

Meanwhile, the bookies believe Lewandowski is Real Madrid’s most likely signing in the summer.

“They didn’t call Real Madrid the Galacticos for nothing and we’re anticipating a summer spending spree from the Spanish giants this summer. We think Lewandowski is the most likely but Neymar and Salah might be a bit more difficult to negotiate, ” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

Olivier Giroud Questions Conte's Tactical Decision

Chelsea's striker, Olivier Giroud has joined the growing number of Chelsea players not favorably disposed to manager, Antonio Conte's tactical decisions as the club struggles to qualify for Champions League next season.

Giroud who joined Chelsea from Arsenal in January has questioned Conte's decision to deploy Eden Hazard as a false striker, stressing that the decision was yet to yield any tangible result.

In an attempt to improve his team's goalscoring prospects, Conte has often played Hazard up front, but Giroud admitted that he did not believe this tactic was working.

Speaking to Mirror, the France international said;

"For me, the competition is with Morata. We can be made to play with Eden up front but it is very rare and it really hasn't borne fruit."

"There is always competition and it is necessary because I need that to continue to progress. I like challenges. After Montpellier, there was the choice of Arsenal and another club. My agent asked me if I was sure I wanted to go to Arsenal. I replied: 'Of course, it is that or nothing'

"But my choices have never been motivated by the easiest thing to do or the money. And until now, these sporting choices have proved to be rather good and rewarding."
On Arsenal poor performance he said

"The situation at Arsenal could not have been worse and it was really a step forward. With Chelsea, I think I have surprised people. I have come to the English club which has won most titles over the last 10 years – that says everything.”
