The third set of Google's Launchpad Accelerator Africa Programme graduated over the weekend in Lagos, with 12 tech startups from six African Countries.
The programme is a regional based startup accelerator training which provides its students with access to exclusive events, mentorships, Public Relations, Networking and equity-free support among others to African tech startup companies.
The startups comprising students from Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal and Uganda have so far created over 120 jobs and raised nearly $9 million.
During the event Mr. Fola Olatunji-David, head of start-up success and services said the programme which aims at giving African entrepreneurs a chance to grow their business, also trained the students in machine learning technologies and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in services rendered.
" We know that Africa is awash with entrepreneurial potential. If that potential is to be transformed into job creation, start-ups founded by those entrepreneurs need to grow. This programme is about giving them the best possible chance of achieving that growth," he added.
Meanwhile, the programme has successfully graduated 35 startups across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sets with over 400 jobs created and have raised over $25 million.
