The Federal Government has concluded plans to drop its current Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) used to assess civil servants and would adopt a more digital platform to evaluate staff performance. This was disclosed to journalists on Monday by the Head of The Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan at the start of a three-day service-wide training program for staff on Performance Management System.
Yemi-Esan said “What we are doing today is a training workshop on the new Performance Management System that will replace the APER that has been used for years and has quite a number of limitations.
“One of the limitations we have seen is that the current system does not give any sense of reward or what the officer has done.”
She also said that the Government decided to scrap the current system of assessment because of a number of other limitations were observed.
