The world has become more of a global environment, the role of smartphones in business and day to day life is growing rapidly. In response, cybercriminals are paying more attention to how they are distributing malware and the attack vectors used. Four African countries were listed in terms of top 10 countries by share of users attacked by mobile malware; with Nigeria climbing from fifth place in 2017 to third in 2018.
Google has banned twenty-nine beauty editing apps form the Google Play Store for maliciously stealing photos, promoting pornography and other nefarious activities. According to TechRadar, a cybersecurity firm, Trend Micro revealed the photo-centric apps which contained malware were inappropriately scheming its users by showing fraudulent full-screen ads when users unlock their phones, steal photos and upload them to an external server.
