The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a warning to members of the public that a group involved in cybercrime is delivering ransomware in USB thumb drives to target organizational networks. Ransomware is a type of malware created to encrypt files on a device, rendering any files and the systems that rely on them unusable. Ransom will then be demanded in exchange for decryption.

NIMC: Our Servers Not Breached, Identities Of Nigerians Safe

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has stated that its servers were not breached and are at the highest international security levels. This was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Director-General of NIMC, Engr Aliyu Aziz after reports circulating on Monday that the commission’s server was hacked and about 3 million Nigerians, National Identification Number (NIN) was reportedly stolen.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operation in Nigeria effective from 12 am January 13th, 2022 after 222 days, this was revealed in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Director-General of National Information Technology Development Agency and chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement, Kashif Inuwa.

Twitter Ban: Tech Giant To Bounce Back After Meeting Conditions

Twitter users may soon smile after the tech giant has met the condition that made the federal government ban their operation in Nigeria. The Technical Committee inaugurated by the federal Government to fine-tune conditions that may lead to unblocking the microblogger from operations seems to appear to have agreed on most of the conditions. Meanwhile, President Buhari is waiting for the report from the technical committee to give it a nod that Twitter should resume operation since its ban since last year June.
It was learned that Mr. President has agreed in principle that the microblogger operations be restored in Nigeria after obliging to the conditions given to them.
