The Federal Government has today revealed that the giant social media outfit (Twitter) after being shut down for months has finally bowed to all our conditions, and will soon resume operation. The Minister for State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, who was part of the stirring committee president Buhari charged to dialogue with the micro-blogging site made this known while speaking with newsmen on channel television today.

The Minister said, his committee made significant progress.

In his statement, “The reason why the president took that step is to recalibrate our relationship with Twitter and not to drive them away from our country.”

“That recalibration, we have started it and the President graciously added me to the committee.

“We also set up a technical committee to interface with Twitter and come up with a lot of conditions for them to fulfil for us to lift the suspension.

Keyamo explained, “It was Twitter that reached out to the Federal Government to say they want to know what and what they can do to straighten up the relationship with the Federal Government and so, we have gone far but I may not, at this forum, let out a lot but we gave them a lot of conditions and they have agreed to all the conditions.”

Speaking further the Minister reiterated that it was during his independence broadcast that Mr President gave Twitter some conditions they must meet before they will be allowed to operate smoothly in Nigeria.

He said the following were the condition issued to the micro-blogging outfit; Twitter paying attention to national security and cohesion; registering its physical presence and representation in Nigeria; Fair taxation; Dispute resolution and Local content.

Twitter was suspended indefinitely in Nigeria by the Buhari administration since 5th June.

This followed the pulling down of Mr President Tweet by Twitter which they alleged was offensive as well as claiming they do not know who is, Muhammad Buhari.
