Galaxy Backbone (GBB) revealed that the Federal Government blocked about 200 cyber-attacks during the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections. This was made known on Tuesday by the GBB, Managing Director, Muhammad Abubakar during the two-day Ministerial training for GBB Board Members and Management Staff titled, “Positioning the GBB Team for Effective Management and Leadership in the 4th Industrial Revolution.”

He said, “On Election Day alone, we were able to block more than 200 attacks and the next day, the attacks geometrically increased to about 1.2 million and all were blocked from our own businesses.”

According to him, a business continuity and cyberspace protection committee had been established to protect and regulate digital activities while optimizing the GBB’s technical services.

The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, in his remarks stated that the two-day training was aimed at reviewing and recalibrating the GBB in terms of management and leadership for optimal outputs.

He also stated that the training was aimed at commencing alternative means of revenue generation.
