President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCDIE) with the mandate to guide the implementation of the Nigerian Startup Act (NSA), 2022. The 14-member Council which is chaired by President Buhari was given its mandate during the Council’s inauguration ceremony on Wednesday just before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Scientists Amazed As A Piece Of Sun Breaks Off

A section of the sun has left the surface and begun circulating around the top of the star as if it were a huge polar vortex, and it’s not exactly clear why it’s happened. The giant filament of plasma appears to have broken away from the sun and swirled around its north pole in a tornado-like vortex. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the mysterious event on February 2. The entire spectacle, which lasted about 8 hours, went viral on Twitter when Tamitha Skov, a science communicator and research scientist at The Aerospace Corporation in California, posted footage.

FG Approves Free Broadband In Airports, Schools, Worth N24,20 Billion

The federal executive council (FEC) has approved the sum of N24.20 billion for the provision of broadband infrastructure in airports, higher institutions, and markets across Nigeria. The FEC also approved N95.8 billion for the Akure/Ita Ogbolu – Iju/Ado Ekiti road, linking Ekiti and Ondo States. Speaking with state house correspondents on Wednesday, Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, said the airports were drawn from the six geo-political zones. He said the price for the contract which covers the airports and institutions of learning is N18.95 billion. “In these two memos, certain intervention projects are going to be implemented by the federal government of Nigeria through the Nigerian Communications Commission of providing Internet in 20 selected airports in Nigeria and higher institutions of learning and also some markets to support micro small and medium enterprises,” Pantami said.

On Wednesday, Google hosted a news conference in Paris where it shared more details about its progress integrating artificial intelligence into search.
