Google-owned video site YouTube has embarked on a cleanup exercise on its site as it deals with controversies concerning minors on the service.

The site has drawn indignation because some videos with kids were the target of sexually inappropriate comments.

In response, the site deactivated hundreds of accounts and removed over 150,000 videos from the platform this week, according to a statement.

Facebook is making a move to enhance its users privacy by notifying them whenever their photos are uploaded through the use of facial recognition technology, when they agree to let the company keep a facial template on file.

The company made the revelation in a statement on Tuesday that it thought that some people would want to be notified of pictures they might not otherwise know about, though it intends to make the feature optional to allow users enhance their privacy.

Facebook said the feature may not be immediately available in Canada and the European Union, because privacy laws are generally stricter in those regions, however it is hopeful about implementing same there in the future.

The Executive Vice Chairman, of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, has disclosed that About 10 million phone users have activated the “Do not Disturb Code.’’

Danbatta stated this in Abuja on Thursday at the 82nd Edition of Telecom Consumer Parliament with the theme “Value added Service and its Benefits (VAS).

He stated that when the NCC kicked off the campaign in March, it was to empower the Nigerian consumers and protect them from unwholesome practices by telecommunication providers and operators.

“Specifically, we had multitude of complains on unsolicited text messages, and daily consumers were being surcharged, money was being deducted from their little credit for services they did not solicit.

Tech giant Apple has confirmed the suspicions of many iPhone owners by revealing it does deliberately slow down some models of the iPhone as they age.

Many Apple product users have long suspected that Apple slows down older iPhones to encourage people to upgrade.

The company has now said it does slow down some models as they get older, but only because the phones' battery performance diminishes over time.

Twitter has revealed that it has suspended the accounts of Paul Golding, Britain First's leader, and Jayda Fransen, his deputy, two leaders of a British far-right party following revision of its rules on hate speech.

The party's official Twitter page has also suffered the same fate.

As a result three of Ms Fransen's posts that President Trump retweeted have disappeared from his feed.

Executive Vice-Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta has confirmed that five entities have emerged as bidders for troubled 9Mobile (formerly Etisalat).

Prof. Danbatta disclosed this yesterday during the 82nd edition of Telecom Consumer Parliament, TCP, with the theme: Value Added Service and Its benefits to Consumers.

The five entities, are Airtel, Globacom, Smile Communications, Helios, and Teleology Holdings Limited. Earlier, no less than 16 firms expressed interest and filed bids with Barclays, 9mobile’s financial advisor.
