Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Messenger suffered a seventeen-hour partial outage yesterday 13th March. The outage rendered the social network apps inaccessible to millions of users across the globe, leading to numerous complaints online.

The system breakdown was mostly concentrated in the United States, parts of Europe, Australia and some parts of New Zealand and Africa.

Facebook spokesperson, Tom Parnell in a statement via email said “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps”

“We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” he added.

Though Parnell did not reveal the cause of the system breakdown, he assured users that it was not a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyber attack.

Meanwhile, thousands of users have taken to Twitter to complain under the hashtag #facebookdown.

However, Instagram earlier today posted a GIF of Oprah Winfrey screaming “Anddddd... we’re back,” to signify that the social network apps are back in full gear.
