In a bid to overcome the traffic congestion in Lagos, Multinational Transportation Network Company, Uber Technology Inc. yesterday announced that it is set to unveil its boat transport taxis on the Lagos waterways. Brooks Entwistle, Uber's Chief Business Officer made the annoucement, saying the transport company is currently talking with the Lagos State Government and other regulatory authorities to enable the company's smooth operation.
He said the company deemed it necessary as the boat taxis would ease traffic congestion in the Sub-Saharan city which is houses 22 million people, with untapped opportunities on its waterways.
The company is exploiting innovative ways to grow its transportation by collaborating with local partners, particularly as rival company Bolt is striving to regain popularity since its rebranding from the former Taxify.
However, the launch date is yet to be announced.
