New Modifications have emerged, affording the Richard Branson's Virgin Boeing 747 capabilities to launch rockets into space underneath its wings, rather than going the SpaceX route. This is made possible by Virgin Orbit, a company poised with the tasked to fire satellites into space, this they intend to do to generate funds from organization who intend to launch satellites.

Virgin Orbit focuses on launching small satellites into space using its LauncherOne orbital launch vehicle. Virgin's test project LauncherOne rockets was airlifted to about 35,000 feet by the modified plane, name "Cosmic Girl", through the atmosphere, and released to launch into space delivering payloads into low-Earth orbit.

“To me, the Virgin brand is about making life on Earth better, and we are going to fulfill that purpose by accessing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to connect billions of people and enabling valuable applications of data from space through Virgin Orbit’s flexible, affordable, and reliable launch service," said Dan Hart, the president of Virgin Orbit.

Space launch programs have been more commonly run by companies such as SpaceX and Blue Origin but neither of these have earned the ability to "Cosmic Girl".
