Sony's PlayStation division unveiled several details regarding the upcoming PS5 next-generation console, with loads of amazing line up of games at its latest PS5 reveal event on June 11. Sony had set its reveal event for PlayStation 5, with the promise of the first footage of PS5 games, for June 4. However, in light of racial justice protests occurring across the United States and other countries, the company postponed the event in order to "stand back and allow more important voices to be heard."

At the event, spectators got a closer look at the DualSense controller and the actual console itself, which had yet to be revealed to the public, like there will be two versions of the console, one being a slightly slimmer all-digital version with no disc drive. The new look for the device spotted a fresh white design, colored white on its front and back, with blue light and black accent colors on its side.

Sony debuted trailers for some games including Horizon Forbidden West, Spider-man, Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank, and more. Before the latest set of reveals, lots were learned about the console's technical specs, as well as its new DualSense controller and certain games. Unreal Engine 5 gameplay was seen running on the system, and though it was not of a full game, the technical specifications of the system mean game lovers would be approaching photorealism in some games.

The company plans to launch this holiday season, and though it is yet to reveal a final date or price, it will reportedly arrive in 2020 and the ongoing pandemic is not impacting the timeline. In a statement, President and CEO Jim Ryan said, “With PlayStation 5, we are making a significant leap to deliver a truly new generation of transformative play experiences that will redefine expectations for what games can be."

“Worlds will be richer and more beautiful, they’ll captivate your senses in ways you didn’t think possible, and you’ll be able to experience them much more seamlessly, with lightning-fast loading. Today’s showcase is just a glimpse of what’s to come in the next generation, and we want to thank our community for taking this journey to PS5’s launch with us.”

Reactions by game lovers to the showcase have been generally positive.
