Internet giant Google was reported dismissed an employee after he wrote a 10 – page internal memo that went viral over the weekend attributing the inequality in the tech industry to biological causes while criticising the company's diversity policies. According to Reuters, James Damore, the Google engineer responsible for the note, confirmed in an email that he had been dismissed for "perpetuating gender stereotypes.
In a 10-page memo circulated over the weekend, Damore accused Google of suppressing conservative voices. He also argued that the shortage of women in the tech industry is attributable to biological differences between men and women.
He wrote that"Google's left bias has created a politically correct monoculture" which prevented honest discussion of diversity.
Danielle Brown, the company's new vice president for diversity, integrity and governance, also denounced Damore's views in a statement to staff saying Google remains committed to diversity in the workplace.
