France's largest Telecommunication company Orange is considering extending its coverage and business to South Africa and Nigeria in no distance time.

The Chief Executive of the company, Stephen Richard during an interview with the press revealed that the move may take effect in months.

"It could make sense to be in economies such as Nigeria and South Africa.

If one considers there are things to do, the time frame I am considering is rather a few months than a few years," Richard said.

The French government is currently the largest stakeholder in Orange.

The company already operates in around 18 African countries including Botswana and the DRC.

It has about 208 million subscribers.

Earlier this year Orange said it was bringing its operations in the Middle East and Africa into a single entity, making way for a potential listing of the operations that could raise cash to invest in overseas expansion.

There are chances that the company may eye payment transfers (mobile) in Nigeria. This is owing to the belief that it makes the largest chunk of its revenue from payment transfers (Middle East), a key part of the group's diversification into financial services, and Nigeria, which is the most populous black nation, is always an attraction.
