Four persons were killed and food trucks hijacked when suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) aid convoy over in Ngala, Borno state. The attack, which happened during the weekend, is the latest in the region as the conflict with Boko Haram nears its ninth year. “WFP can confirm that a convoy escorted by the Nigerian military including WFP-hired trucks was the subject of an attack by armed groups 35 km southwest of Ngala in Borno State on Saturday,” the spokeswoman Jane Howard said in a statement.

The Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has called for an enhanced cooperation to effectively rout out insurgency and other crimes confronting the lake chad basin.

He stated this on Monday during the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The COAS noted that tremendous successes have been recorded in the war against terror; he, however, called for more support.

The Nigerian military has replaced the commander of the fight against Boko Haram, Attahiru Ibrahim, six month after he took charge of the military operation code named "operation lafiya dole'.

A military spokesman confirmed the replacement of Ibrahim Attahiru, theater commander of the operation against Boko Haram, in a text message to Reuters. Major General Rogers Nicholas will take his position.

Recruitment: Federal Civil Service Disclaims Advertisment

The Federal Civil Service Commission has denied issuing any advertisement for recruitment and warned the general public to treat recent online advertisement of job vacancies by the Commission through unofficial websites, as false.

The Federal Government says it has a record of 2,778 Nigerian migrants registered in “accessible” detention camps in Libya, ready for repatriation.

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement signed by the Spokesperson Mr Tiwatope Elias-Fatiile on Tuesday, said the country’s embassy in Libya had been visiting detention camps to identify Nigerians for registration.

The ministry stated that those registered were issued Emergency Travel Certificates.
