Fire Outbreak At Lagos Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed outbreak of fire incident at the E54 Passenger Air Bridge, domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos at the early hour of Thursday.

Just In: Jail Break At Suleja Correctional Service, Hundreds of Inmates Escaped

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has confirmed the escape of inmates from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Suleja, Niger state. Last night Wednesday, a heavy downpour destroyed the fence of the Suleja correctional centre aiding the escape of inmates during a heavy rainfall. Confirming the incident through a statement by the spokesman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command of NCoS, Adamu Duza, he said a total of 118 inmates escaped so far by their record. 

EFCC Chair Threatens Resignation If Yahaya Bello’s Prosecution Fails

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has threatened to resign if besieged former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is not prosecuted. The ant graft boss stated this while speaking to newsmen yesterday Tuesday at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, the agency chairman revealed that all those who aided in the obstruction of the former governor’s arrest must be brought to justice. The anti corruption office, EFCC had on 18th April, 2024 declared Bello wanted over an alleged N80 billion financial crime he committed while serving as the kogi state governor. 

Corruption, Undue Influence Threatening Our Justice System, CJN Cries Out

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has called on all concerned Nigerians to come to the rescue of our justice system from collapsing due to undue influence from external forces. The CJN made the call yesterday Wednesday in Abuja during the National Summit on Justice; the CJN listed the issues threatening the justice system as corruption, inefficiency and undue influence from powerful forces. Arioola noted that upholding the independence and impartiality of the judiciary is paramount to every nation as people as it is the cornerstone of a functioning democracy and the guarantor of the rule of law. 

State Police: IGP Foot Drags As Former Presidents Throw Weight Behind The Call

Necessitated by the heightened insecurity in the country, former President Goodluck Jonathan has thrown his weight behind the call for the establishment of state police, saying it is non-negotiable. Mr Jonathan made his position clear at the “National Dialogue on the Establishment of State Police” organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review held yesterday in Abuja. The dialogue was titled, “Pathways to Peace: Reimagining Policing in Nigeria.”
