FCT Minister Halts Events at ICC Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesome Wike, in the quest to restore the International Conference Centre (ICC), lost glory, has ordered the immediate cancellation of all events scheduled to take place at the facility for the next eight months. This was followed after a thorough inspection on Monday by Wike alongside top management staff of the FCT Administration, he expressed displeasure over the dilapidated state of the ICC. He said that the suspension enabled Julius Berger to carry out holistic rehabilitation of the centre.

Hardship: FG Flags Off Distribution Of 42,000 Metric Tones Of Grain Palliative

The federal government has flag-off of the distribution of 42,000 metric tonnes (MT) of Assorted Food Commodities from the National Strategic Food Reserve (NSFR) across the country to Vulnerable Nigerians to cushion the effect of the rising cost of food commodities in our community markets. The event was kick-started yesterday Sunday, 6th April 2024, at the Sokoto state Government House, Sokoto. 

Police Arrest Eight In Connection With Killing Of UNIMAID Lecturer

Following the murder of a lecturer of the Physical and Health Education Department at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Abdulkadir Kamal, the Borno State Police Command said it has arrested eight persons in connection to the crime. The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daso Kenneth, who made the above statement on Tuesday said the suspects were arrested following a report filed by the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the university, that a dead body was found in the school on Sunday. The police from Gwange Division of the command were deployed to the scene of the incident and subsequently arrested the said suspects while an investigation has been activated to unravel the cause of the killing as well as other relevant details.

DHQ Releases List Of Neutralized Terrorist Commanders

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Thursday released a list of terrorist commanders killed during different operations between January and March 2024 in the northern part of the country. The names are Abu Bilal Minuki (aka Abubakar Mainok); Head of Is-Al Furqan Province (ISGS and ISWAP) and Haruna Isiya Boderi, a notorious terrorist who operated along Birnin Gwari Forest, Kaduna State and also the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Explosion Hit Ikeja Cantonment Army Farmland

Fear and panic rose as an explosion hit the Ikeja Army Cantonment on 1st April 2024, the Nigerian Army however tagged the incident as a "minor explosion" and was suspected to be triggered by the burning of refuge and other inflammable debris by a farmer who cultivated the farmland in the barracks. In a statement issued by the director of army public relations, Onyema Nwachukwu stated that no casualty was recorded in the incident that occurred on a farmland near the Mammy market within the cantonment.
