Supreme Court Approves Use Of Hijab In Lagos Schools

Recall the Lagos State Government has banned the use of hijab in schools stating that it was not part of the approved school uniforms for students, in respect to the ban, the Muslim students took it up on themselves to file a suit. Following the ban the Supreme Court of Nigeria has approved on 17th June 2022 in the nation's capital the use of hijab by female students in Government-owned schools in Lagos state by dismissing an early appeal by the state government, noting that the ban on hijab was discriminatory against the Muslim students in the state.

FG Declares May 2nd, 3rd Public Holidays

The Federal Government (FG) has declared the 2nd and 3rd of May 2022 as public holidays to mark the Workers Day and Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. This was disclosed on Thursday by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore. The Minister commended workers for their hard work and sacrifice, while also stating that their efforts were instrumental in developing the country.

Top Yoruba monarch, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III has passed on at the age of 83 years old. According to palace officials, Adeyemi died in the late hours of Friday at Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The monarch’s body was received at Idi-Igba, Oyo town early Saturday morning and traditional rites have commenced.
