Argentina Rejects BRICS

Argentina has formally withdrawn from the expansion of the BRICS bloc. President Javier Milei has sent letters to BRICS leaders to formalize his decision to withdraw his country from its planned entry into the alliance of major emerging economies. Milei during his election campaign, noted that "our geopolitical alignment is with the United States and Israel. We are not going to ally with communists." The president also promised to cut ties with major trading partners, China and Brazil, despite the growing investment of the former in South America.

French Authorities Bars Nigerian Students From Relocating With Families Abroad

Portuguese Prime Minister Steps Down Amid Corruption Probe

Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa resigned shortly after prosecutors issued arrest warrants and raided government buildings due to a corruption investigation. Costa revealed during a televised news conference his amazement over a criminal case issued against him, insisting he had nothing to do with any "illicit of reprehensible act." He said he had not been named as a suspect but believed the inquiry was incompatible with staying in office.
