The deployment of security operatives to the office of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) following refusal by the suspended Chairman of the Scheme to vacate office has paid off, as the Acting Chairman of NHIS, Attahiru Ibrahim has resumed duties in his new capacity.

Nigeria has initiated a number of strategies for the elimination of  Mother to Child Transmission  of HIV by 2020, Dr Sunday Aboje, National Coordinator, National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCP), Ministry of Health said.

The Senate has moved to make Genotype test compulsory for couples in the wake of increasing cases of Sickle Cell disease in the country.  On Tuesday, a Bill for an Act to Provide for Compulsory Haemogloibin-Genotype Testing and for other connected matters scaled second reading. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Ahmed Ogembe.

Worried by the recent reports of the demise of Corps Members due to preventable or curable illnesses, the Federal Government has resolved to capture Corps members in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The Minister of Health, Dr. Isaac Adewole made this known on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
