EFCC Declares Wife of Past CBN Governor Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) has declared Margaret Emefiele, the wife of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele, and three others wanted for alleged money laundering case on Friday night. The other three involved in the case were identified as Eric Ocheme Odoh, Anita Joy Omoile, and her husband Jonathan Omoile, for allegedly conspiring “to convert huge sums of money belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria and committed felony to wit: obtaining money by false pretences, and stealing, contrary to and punishable under Sections 411, 287, and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.”

Corruption: EFCC Freezes N3b Belonging To Hadi Sirika's Brother

In a renewed anti-corruption fight by the President Tinubu administration, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has identified an account belonging to Abubakar Ahmad Sirika, brother to Hadi Sirika, the immediate-past minister of Aviation in Buhari govt, over alleged N8.06 billion contract fraud in the Federal Ministry of Aviation. The anti-graft agency made this known after the arrest of Abubakar Sirika over the contract fraud of about N3.2 billion and was traced to his private company account, Engirios Nigeria Limited, where the anti-graft has since frozen the account. 

Sexual Assault: Court Grants Suspended University of Calabar Professor, Ndifon N250M Bail

A Federal high court in Abuja has granted bail to the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Professor Cyril Ndifon, to the tune of N250 million in the sexual harassment and gratification case instituted against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Justice James Omotosho who gave the ruling also granted his lawyer Sunny Anyanwu bail to the tune of 50 million naira among other stringent bail conditions. Both defendants are expected to produce two sureties who own properties within FCT with a minimum valuation of 150 million and must submit their bank statements to the court.

Reps Urges Fire Service to Remit N1.48bn within 7 Days

The House of Representatives Public Account Committee (PAC) on Wednesday instructed the Federal Fire Service to remit the sum of N1.4 billion released to the agency for COVID-19 intervention funds which it failed to account for back to the Federal Government within seven days. This directive was issued by the Chairperson of PAC, Hon. Bamidele Salam, after the failure of the service to honor the invitation to explain the expenditure of the fund. It was revealed that the Federal Fire Service was invited to appear before the committee but the agency never honored the invitation and did not send any letter to the committee on why it failed to respond to the invitations.
