EFCC Chairman: Religious Sect Discovered Laundering Money For Terrorists

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede stated that religious sect was discovered to be laundering money for terrorists. He made this known during a one-day dialogue on ‘Youth, Religion and the Fight Against Corruption’ which was held on Wednesday at the Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, where he revealed that another religious body was found to be shielding a money launderer after suspicious funds were traced to the bank account of the organization.

Nnamdi Kanu N50bn Suit: Court Adjourns Hearing Until April 22

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned a suit filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, against the Federal Government until April 22, 2024, for its next hearing. In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/462/2022 Kanu alleged that FG kidnapped him from Kenya and forcefully brought him to Nigeria to face a court trial. He also demanded that the court should direct the Department of States Services to release him unconditionally from its custody. 

$500,000 Bribe: Supreme Court Affirms Lawan’s Five- Year Prison Sentence

The Supreme Court has affirmed the five-year jail term handed to Farouk Lawan, a former member of the House of Representatives by the Court of Appeal over his acceptance of a $500,000 bribe from business mogul, Femi Otedola. In an unanimous judgment on Friday by a five-member panel which upheld the 2022 judgment of the Court of Appeal and dismissed Lawan’s appeal against the judgment of the lower court over his five year prison sentence.

Nabeena Killer Finally Lands In Police Net

The Nigerian Police Force has arrested a suspected kidnapper who is linked to the abduction and subsequent murder of one Nabeeha, a girl that was abducted in Abuja and later killed. According to a statement by, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, PPRO, the criminal, Bello Mohammed, 28, from Zamfara state was arrested on January 20, 2024 in Kaduna with N2.25 million cash which is suspected to be a proceed of ransom.

Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, sitting in Lagos state has today sentenced Bishop of “I Reign Christian Ministry”, Lagos, Feyiropo Daniels, to life imprisonment for raping his 23-year-old assistant pastor. Additionally, he was also jailed for another 3 years for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old member of his same church. The presiding judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, held that the cleric deserve to spend the rest of his life at the Kirikiri custodial facility as he is now a predator.
