The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10 as public holidays to mark this year's Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the FG yesterday in Abuja. The minister in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Aishetu Gogo-Ndayako congratulated all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fast in the holy month of Ramadan. He urged Muslims to imbibe and practise the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, and compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him).
"The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, 9th, and Wednesday, 10th April 2024 as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
"The minister wishes all Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prays that the peace, blessings and favour of Allah be with everyone and our great nation," the statement read.
Vigil360news earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu departed Abuja on Sunday, April 7, to Lagos to celebrate the holidays and observe prayers for Nigeria with his family. It was added that the president will continue official duties during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
