Court Cites Typo Error In Kano Judgement, NNPP Moves To S'Court

The Appellate court has cleared the air over controversies surrounding the November 17 judgment delivered on the Kano Governorship Election, as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) filed its notice of appeal before the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of sacking Governor Abba Yusuf while declaring Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the duly elected governor of Kano State.

Appeal Court Releases CTC of Kano Judgment

The Court of Appeal has finally released the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Kano state governorship election judgment it delivered on 17th November 2023, in favor of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Gawuna. The CTC was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Salihu Tanko Yakasai, popularly known as Dawisu, the Kano state Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election. Dawisu is currently a chieftain of the APC and an ally of Abdullahi Ganduje, the APC national chairman.

Judiciary Workers Begin Strike

Judiciary workers in Osun state under the aegis of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), yesterday declared an indefinite strike over issues relating to seizure of wardrope allowance, suspension of their colleagues, and the State Chief Judge’s refusal to lift the embargo on worker’s training. The workers have since on Monday picketed the state High Court in Osogbo to demand justice for what they referred to as persecution and injustice they are facing under the leadership of the state Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo.

EU Allocates €30 Million To Fight Corruption In Nigeria

The European Union has said it had spent a total of 88 million euros to support Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts since 2005, even as it announced another 30 million euros to improve the rule of law, tackle corruption, and reduce gender-based violence in the country for the next five years. The EU Ambassador and Head of Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi, stated this on Tuesday in Abuja at the formal launch of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC Phase II) Programme, implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) and funded by the European Union.

Reps Summon MDAs Over Mismanagement Of N447.6bn COVID-19 Intervention Funds

The House of Representatives has summoned 83 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDA) of the Federal Government as it begins an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of over N447.6bn COVID-19 intervention fund from 2020 to 2022. At least 22 of the MDAs got not less than N447.6bn as COVID-19 funds in 2020 alone. The House invited the Ministries of Agriculture and Food Security, Communications and Digital Economy, Federal Road Maintenance Agency, and scores of other Ministries, Department and Agencies.
