President Tinubu Declares Absolute Confidence In His Chief Of Staff 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday declared he has “absolute confidence” in the integrity of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. President Tinubu, who spoke shortly before the commencement of the week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting inside the Council Chambers, State House, also set the ground rules for the attendance of the meeting. The president spoke on issues he had observed and had not been comfortable with, including unauthorized persons gaining access into the Council Chambers of the State House.

President Tinubu Appoints New Federal Civil Service Commission Leadership

President Bola Tinubu on Friday -appointed one-time Federal Permanent Secretary, Professor Tunji Olaopa, as the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), along with eleven other members. According to a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the appointment of the new FCSC Chairman and members is subject to the Senate’s confirmation. The president also appointed 11 others to direct the affairs of the country's civil service with effect from November 30, 2023.

Bayelsa Poll: INEC Omits Sylva's Name from Candidates' List

The Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) has omitted the name of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Mr Timipre Sylva alongside his deputy, Mr Joshua Maciver, from the list of qualified candidates for the November 11th Gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State. The amended list which was uploaded on the commission’s website was signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony. INEC’s decision, as stated by Mrs. Oriaran-Anthony, is in compliance with a court order.

Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ado Ibrahim, Dies Aged 95

A paramount king in Kogi State, the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Abdulrahman Ado-Ibrahim, died at the age of 95, in the early hours of Sunday after a brief illness. The prominent monarch who was buried according to Islamic rites was crowned in 1997 as the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, by the then-Governor of Kogi State, late Prince Abubakar Audu.

Senate Moves To Bar CBN Governor, Deputies From Politics 

The Senate on Wednesday passed for second reading a bill seeking to amend the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act to bar the serving governor and deputy governors from partisan politics. The bill titled: “Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) (Amendment) Bill 2023” was sponsored by Senator Steve Karimi (APC- Kogi West) while the second one titled: “A Bill to amend the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007, and for matters connected therewith, 2023” was sponsored by Senator Darlington Nwokocha (LP-Abia Central). The immediate past Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, had attempted to contest the 2023 Presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while in office.

The Supreme Court has fixed Thursday, October 26, 2023 to deliver judgement in the cases of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Peter Obi against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
