APC Declares Ondo Guber Primary Inconclusive

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that the Ondo state governorship primaries were inconclusive and requested a fresh election. Usman Ododo, the Chairman of the seven-member committee responsible for the conduct of the primaries, declared the exercise inconclusive. He stated that the main reasons behind the decision were the delay and late arrival of materials and personnel to 13 wards in the Okitipupa area council of Ondo state.

Former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu Confirmed Dead

Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the former Minister of Science and Technology during Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is dead, according to sources close to the deceased. Onu, the first civilian governor of Abia State, died in Abuja on Thursday at an undisclosed hospital, following his battle with an undisclosed medical ailment.

LP Re-elects Abure As National Chairman

Julius Abure has been re-elected to serve for the second term as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP). The Chairman of the National Convention and Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu declared him the winner during the party’s national convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State. The re-election came days after members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, protested and demanded the rescheduling of the party’s national convention due to some flaws in its leadership and financial misappropriation. 

Ningi Issues Akpabio 7 Days Ultimatum to Reverse Suspension, Threatens Lawsuit

The embattled Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Abdul Ningi, has issued a seven days ultimatum to the Senate President, Godwill Akpabio to reverse the three-month suspension imposed on him or will be forced to drag to Senate boss to court. Ningi wrote through his lawyer, Femi Falana, on Wednesday, noting his suspension was faulty. Recall that the lawmaker had in a media interview with the BBC Hausa Service, alleged that while the budget passed by the National Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year was N25 trillion the one being executed by the Presidency was N28.7 trillion. However, at the plenary on March 12, the Senate demanded that Senator Ningi defend the allegation and was eventually slammed with a three-month suspension for damaging the image of the Red Chamber over what Senators decided was an unfounded allegation.

NNPP Appoints New National Chairman

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced the appointment as Dr. Ajuji Ahmed as the party’s new national chairman which was made known in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yakubu Shendam. The statement reads in part, “Dr. Ajuji Ahmed has been elected as the new Acting National Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), following the resignation of Abba Kawu Ali.

Edo Election: APC Names Okpebholo Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership has named Dennis Idahosa as running mate to Senator Monday Okpebholo in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial polls. Okpebholo, who during the February 17 primary election came second to Idahosa; although, was announced winner in a parallel election.
