Dele Momodu Officially Joins PDP

Popular publisher and journalist, Dele Momodu has re-entered politics and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday morning by Momodu who explained the reason behind his decision. The former presidential candidate said his decision to rejoin politics was to meaningfully contribute to the development of the nation. Momodu said, “I have consulted widely. And it is clear to me that given the dangerous and disastrous drift that our nation has experienced in the past six years, the only party from which amends can be made to rectify our situation is the Peoples Democratic Party.

Mimiko's Zenith Labour Party Collapses Into PDP

Former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following a meeting with four governors, led by the Chairman of the PDP governors forum and Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tambuwal. Mimiko joined PDP alongside stakeholders of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State. The stakeholders include former deputy governor and ZLP governorship candidate in 2020, Agboola Ajayi, running mate, Gboye Adegbenro, ZLP State chairman, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja, former speaker, Jumoke Akindele, among others.

2023: PDP NEC Approves Zoning Of National Chairmanship To The North

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the recommendation of its zoning committee led by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State that the next national chairman of the party should come from the north. The move was aimed at paving the way for the emergence of a southern candidate as the party’s presidential candidate. Briefing newsmen after its 94th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Thursday, the party’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the NEC only considered and approved the recommendations of the 44-member committee on the zoning of national officers. The Committee last week recommended the zoning of the position of the party’s national chairman to the north, while also recommending that other offices in the national working committee (NWC) be swapped between the northern and southern zones. Based on the decision, all positions in the party currently occupied by people from the South will go to the North and those occupied by people from the North will go to the South.

APC Constitutes National Reconciliation Committee

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has approved the composition of a National Reconciliation Committee to reconcile aggrieved members of the party. The constitution of the committee follows the increase in litigations by aggrieved members against the party. The National Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Senator John Akpanudoedehe in a statement on Tuesday disclosed that a date for the inauguration of the committee would be communicated to the public.

Police Authorities Open Probe Against Inspector Captured Voting During Kano APC Congress

The authorities of the Nigerian Police have reportedly opened a probe on a Police Inspector, Bashir Mohammed, who was seen in a viral picture voting during the recently concluded state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in kano.
A statement by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Zayyanu Ambursa, revealed that Mohammed of the Special Protection Unit, Base 1, Kano is attached to the Government House, Kano, from where he was deployed to work with Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas as a security aide. The statement reads in part “The attention of the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone One Headquarters Kano has been drawn to a trending picture on social media of an inspector of police casting vote at the recently conducted congress of the APC along with his principal the state party chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.

INEC: Over 1M Nigerians Completed Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said over one million Nigerians have completed the ongoing nationwide physical voter registration. Also, the number of online pre-registrants is 3,165,189 while 1,457,766 Nigerians have applied for voter transfer, replacement of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs), and update of information records.

APC Fixes State Congresses For October 2

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 for its State Congresses. The National Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe made this disclosure on Monday in a statement titled, ‘APC Schedules State Congresses for Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Abuja.’
