Edo Election: President Buhari Commends Election Process, Congratulates Obaseki

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the election process in Edo State that resulted in the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki for a second term. In his reaction to the outcome of the election as announced by INEC, President Buhari said: "My commitment to free and fair elections is firm, because without free and fair elections, the foundation of our political and moral authority will be weak. "I have consistently advocated for free and fair election in the country because it is the bedrock of true democratic order.

Ondo 2020: Mysterious Fire Destroys Over 5000 Card Readers In INEC Office

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Akure Office, Ondo State has suffered a fire incident on Thursday evening, about 7:30 p.m. It was gathered that the inferno that started around 8 p.m. affected the ICT section of the commission and destroyed over 5,000 card readers. The INEC Commissioner in charge of Information and Voters Education, Festus Okoye, who is in Ondo State, confirmed the development. He disclosed that the fire affected the Information and Communication Technology section of the commission, saying over 5100 card readers had been burnt in the inferno.

Attack On Journalist: Daily Trust Berates Fani-Kayode, Described His Action As Act Of Mischief

The Management of Media Trust Limited, publishers of the Daily Trust Newspaper has condemned the attack on its reporter, Eyo Charles by a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode. The Media outfit said should anything happen to its reporter; it would hold Fani-Kayode responsible. Daily Trust described the action of the ex-Minister as reprehensible as he was captured in a video verbally insulting a journalist for a simple question that he should have just answered. The incident took place in Calabar, Cross Rivers State capital on Thursday, 20 August 2020, at a Hotel while at a press briefing.

Bayelsa: INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Sen. Diri and Sen. Lawrence

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has in accordance with the instruction of the Supreme Court presented the certificate of return to PDP's governor-elect for Bayelsa state DouyeDiriGovernor Diri's deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo was also presented his certificate of return. 

President Buhari, Okonjo-Iweala Congratulates Re-elected AfDB President Akinwunmi Adesina

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Akinwunmi Adesina on his re-election for a second term in office as the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB). In a statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, President Buhari congratulated Adesina on behalf of the Federal Executive Council and Nigerians in general. Mr. President also extended his appreciation to the African Union for its endorsement of the AfDB President much earlier, and to shareholders of the bank who worked assiduously to ensure the return of the visionary leader.

Repentant Boko Haram: Presidency Debunk Rumour Of Integrating Them Into Nigerian Army

The Presidency has faulted rumour emanating from some pedlars of fake news that the Federal Government was accommodating the repentant Boko Haram element into the military. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu revealed this, saying none of the 601 repentant terrorist elements who were recently deradicalized has been integrated into the Nigerian Military.
