Bank Of Ghana Suspends Forex Licenses Of GTB, First Bank

The Bank of Ghana has suspended the foreign exchange (Forex) trading licenses of 2 Nigerian-owned banks, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) over alleged fraudulent documentation in their forex trading operations.

ECOWAS Will Re-Examine Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Niger Position - Tinubu

Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Bola Tinubu, during an extra-ordinary summit on the peace, political, and security situation in the Sub-Region, in Abuja on Saturday has urged Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to reconsider their withdrawal from the regional body and not see the body as an enemy. He also went on to push the regional body to re-examine its approach in ensuring constitutional order in embattled member states.

Tinubu Heads To Addis Ababa For A 37TH AU Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be departing Abuja this evening for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for a meeting slated for tomorrow Thursday as the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government meeting. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale releases this in a statement this afternoon in Abuja, saying President Tinubu would join other African counterparts in high-level meetings on institutional reforms of the African Union; peace and security. 

Many Killed In N'Djamena Following Attack On Security HQ

Several people were reportedly killed on Wednesday following a deadly attack on the headquarters of the National Security Agency (ANSE) in Chad's capital city N'Djamena. The violence in N'Djamena came as tensions rose ahead of a presidential election set for May and June that could return Chad to constitutional rule after three years of military-backed rule. Security forces have surrounded the headquarters of the Socialist Party Without Borders (PSF), after accusing "elements" of the main opposition party of launching the deadly attack on the country's internal security agency.

Tinubu Bags AU Appointment As Champion For Health

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been crowned by the African Union as a new Champion for Human Resources, Health and Community Health Delivery Partnership. Accordingly, the Nigerian leader will be addressing participants at the ministerial executive leadership programme by tomorrow Saturday, February 17, 2024. The news was issued in a statement today by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the president, Ajuri Ngelale , titled ‘President Tinubu appointed as AU Champion for health’. 

Zambia Reopens School Following Cholera Outbreak

Following the outbreak of cholera in Zambia, Schools have reopened after five weeks of containing the highly contagious disease. The Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, conducted a nationwide inspection to ensure readiness, as all preventive measures against cholera have been put in place. "May I take this opportunity to assure parents, guardians, and the country at large that the Ministry of Education, through the Directorate of Standards Assessment and Evaluation and School Health and Nutrition, has been and will continue to conduct school inspections in all 10 provinces," he told journalists during a press briefing.
