Concerned by the daily increase in the cost of governance by the President Tinubu led-administration, an Akwa Ibom-based Socio-cultural Group, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, has called on the government to fully implement Stephen Orosanye’s Report to free up resources in the country. The group, made their concern known through a communiqué issued at the end of its 54th General Assembly in Uyo, where they also called for a reduction in the size of the Federal Executive Council.

Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf after approving the Bill for the creation of second class chiefs in the state has approved the appointment of three second-class Emirs of Rano, Gaya, and Karaye with immediate effect. According to a statement released by the state governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, which was made available to pressmen this morning, the new emirates are to serve as second with Kano as first-class emirate.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed worry over what he described as a growing tendency of state governments to exert influence by distorting the modalities of enthroning traditional stools. Human Rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Femi Falana, has yesterday stated that the Federal High Court and the National Industrial Court both lacks the jurisdiction to adjudicate on chieftaincy matters in Nigeria. Falana made this known through a statement he signed yesterday where he criticized both courts for separately granting themselves jurisdiction in such cases, describing the courts decisions “highly erroneous” and unjustifiable under sections 251 and 254(C) of the Constitution.
