The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, says government failures were responsible for the recent stampedes in Oyo, Anambra and Abuja. The Bishop stated this on Wednesday in his Christmas message, stressing that the stampedes were a metaphor for the situation of desperation that citizens have been thrown into.

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday 25th, Thursday 26th December, 2024, and Wednesday 1st January, 2025 as Public Holidays. Federal government declared the days to mark Christmas celebration, Boxing Day and New Year respectively. This was made known by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani on behalf of the minister.

Abuja National Mosque management has approved Professor Iliyasu Usman's appointment as the first-ever Igbo Muslim to serve as an Imam, a historic moment for the Nigerian Muslim community. The South East Muslim Organisation of Nigeria (SEMON) disclosed this in a congratulatory message to Usman on Friday. The Federal Government has approved constructing an airstrip in Canaanland, the headquarters of the Living Faith Church Worldwide popularly known as Winners Chapel, in Ota, Ogun state. This was announced by Bishop David Oyedepo to members of his congregation at his church’s Tehillah Night Special Edition in Canaanland, Otta, Ogun State.
