Abuja National Mosque management has approved Professor Iliyasu Usman's appointment as the first-ever Igbo Muslim to serve as an Imam, a historic moment for the Nigerian Muslim community. The South East Muslim Organisation of Nigeria (SEMON) disclosed this in a congratulatory message to Usman on Friday. This appointment has been celebrated widely, especially among the SEMON, which views it as a testament to Usman’s commitment to Islamic scholarship and leadership.

The Federal Government has approved constructing an airstrip in Canaanland, the headquarters of the Living Faith Church Worldwide popularly known as Winners Chapel, in Ota, Ogun state. Following the removal of the previous head of the Hajj Commission, Jalal Arabi, amid allegations bothering corruption, President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON). Professor Usman is a renowned scholar with qualifications from the University of Madinah and Peshawar University, Pakistan. He previously served as Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Board, successfully overseeing the operations of the largest quota of state pilgrims in the country.
