The Federal Government (FG) has commenced the payment of withheld salaries of public university lecturers under the aegis the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Multiple sources within the academic sector confirmed the development on Monday, stating that several members of the Union have began receiving credit alerts of 2 months withheld salary out of the outstanding 8 months.

The Osun State Government as of 19th February 2024 officially opened a portal for two weeks to the public for immediate recruitment of eligible teachers in Public Primary and Secondary Schools. This step is in the quest to enhance quality education in the state. Prospective applicants are advised to visit the official recruitment portal at http://jobportal.osunstate.gov.ng to access the application form, and a non-refundable fee of Two Thousand Naira (2,000) only in the course of the process.

The human right lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) and another lawyer as dragged the Attorney General of the Federation, the Nigerian Education Minister, the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, the Attorneys General of the 36 States of the Federation, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to court over the education of the Nigerian child.

President Bola Tinubu on Monday directed the management of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to extend the interest-free loan initiative to Nigerian students interested in skill-development programmes. The President issued this directive at the State House on Monday after a briefing from the Executive Secretary of the intervention programme, Akintunde Sawyerr, a statement by the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, said.
The statement added that the implementation of the loan begins “later this month.” The statement reads in part: “The President said it is important for the scheme to accommodate those who may not want to pursue university education, noting that skill acquisition is as important as obtaining undergraduate and graduate academic qualifications.
