The Federal Government (FG), Says it will set up a formal negotiation team between the Parent-Teachers-Association (PTA), and relevant stakeholders to look into the recent hike of school fees across the country. Minister of State for Education, Dr Yusuf Sununu who made the disclosure on Friday in Abuja at a news conference to herald the commemoration of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, said there was a need to look into the matter to avert further attacks as the hike in school fees could be a core factor leading to attacks on schools.

In an effort to assist Higher National Diploma (HND) holders convert their certification to higher degrees, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has unveiled a one-year online programme in partnership with foreign accredited universities. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by NBTE, Head of Media Unit, Mrs Fatima Abubakar.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Thursday decried the federal government’s decision to dissolve the governing councils in universities across the country. The union called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescind what they described as an obnoxious decision to dissolve the councils without completing their tenures of office.

The Federal Government (FG) has allocated the sum of N15 billion for the implementation of the Safe School Initiative for 2023. This was made known in Abuja on Wednesday by the National Coordinator of the Initiative, Halima Illiya Ibrahim, stating the Initiative is designed to improve the safety and security of students, staff and infrastructures of educational institutions in Nigeria.
