A faction of Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Daniel Nwafor, says it has commenced contempt proceedings against the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole. Nwafor who made this known to newsmen on Wednesday at the party’s secretariat, Owerri, explained that Oshiomhole had disregarded valid court judgment which affirmed him (Nwafor) the authentic chairman of APC, in the state.

The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday said he is feeling sad over the trial of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on allegations of false and non-asset declarations.

The Acting Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu may have hit the ground running, following his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari as Police Chief. Shortly after his decoration, Adamu was reported to have reversed the transfer of Lagos Commissioner of Police, Imohini Edgal.

President Buhari has nominated Major General, Paul Tarfa (Rtd) as the chairman of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) subject to ratification by the Senate. Mohammed Alkali was also nominated as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission with nine others as board members of the Commission. 

The Newly-appointed Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu on Tuesday pledged to hit the ground running, following his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday. Adamu took over from Ibrahim Idris who clocked sixty years today.

The All Progressives Congress on Monday insisted that the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onoghen, must face his corruption trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal CCT). The party made its position known in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu.

The President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki on Wednesday cautioned Nigerian politicians against do-or-die politics ahead of the forthcoming general elections. He made the call while welcoming his colleagues from the Christmas and  New Year break, A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, in Abuja, said the Senate President appealed that all efforts should be made to ensure that the forthcoming elections are free, fair and credible.

The Edo office of the Independent National Electoral commission says it has taken delivery of 4,637 ballot boxes ahead of the 2019 General Elections. According to Punch, the state INEC Administrative Secretary, Mr. Richard Ntui, made the disclosure at an interactive forum with religious leaders in Benin on Tuesday.

Following the appointment of a new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, opposition political parties on the platform of the Coalition of United Political Parties on Tuesday called off its planned nationwide protest against the elongation of the tenure of the former IGP, Ibrahim Idris. The Coalition also set an agenda for the Police.
