Nigerian Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been awarded the 2018 PEN Pinter prize. She will receive the award at a public ceremony at the British Library in October, where she will deliver an address.

She was hailed by Harold Pinter’s widow, the biographer Antonia Fraser, as a writer who embodies “those qualities of courage and outspokenness which Harold much admired”.

Adichie was chosen by this year’s judges: president of English PEN Philippe Sands; Antonia Fraser, historian, biographer and widow of Harold Pinter; writer and critic Alex Clark; poet, playwright and performer Inua Ellams; and Maureen Freely, chair of judges and trustees for English PEN.

Reggae Music Legend Ras Kimono Is Dead


Popular A-list Nigerian reggae artiste Ukeleke Onwubuya, better known by his stage name Ras Kimono is dead. He passed on Sunday 10th June 2018, at age 60.

According to reports the music legend was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, where he was later referred to Lagoon Hospital on the Island, where he was pronounced dead.

Reggae lovers in Ebonyi have wrapped up plans to hold candle light procession for deceased Nigerian Reggae music legend, Ekeleke onwubuya, better known by his stage name Ras Kimono.

The Nigerian Rastafarian passed on Sunday at age 60, at the Lagos Lagoon hospital following a brief illness.

The reggae artists informed News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Monday that the procession was in tribute to Kimono "because of his great contributions to the development of the brand of music in the country."

Media personality, Filmmaker, philanthropist and former human resources management consultant Mosunmola Abudu, also known as Mo Abudu has announced the big screen adaptation of "Death and the King's Horeseman", a play by Wole Soyinka.

Abudu took to her Instagram page where she announced the acquisition of rights to remake the tremendous work of literature into a feature film, and she also added a photo of herself and Prof Soyinka at a dinner table in London.

Renown Nigerian novelist, writer of short stories Chimamanda Adichie has set the social media ablaze following her anti-chivalry statement on an American show.

While speaking on the American Daily Trevor Noah show on Thursday, Chimamanda condemned the idea that it is an act of chivalry for men to open doors for women, hinting that it conveys the wrong impression that women are weak and dependent.

Chimamanda also spoke against the practice of assisting women and children first in a crisis situation, as opposed to taking care of anyone who needs help.
