Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has established the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, naming former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari as the Director-General (DG) of the council.
This development was made known by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy and also the Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication of the campaign council.
According to Onanuga, President Tinubu will serve as the council’s chairman, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, both designated as vice chairmen.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will be the council’s secretary, former Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole will serve as deputy director-general in charge of mobilisation, while the president's chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will serve as deputy director-general of administration.
Other members of the council include Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau; Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas; Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris; Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni; Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo; Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun; Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, amongst others.
President Tinubu was quoted saying, “As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation.
“Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”
