Nigeria's first contingent to the fourth Africa Youth Games, Luanda 2025, departed the country on Monday, December 8, signaling the final phase of preparations for the continent's premier youth multi-sport event. A total of 86 athletes will represent the nation across 12 sports, ranging from athletics and badminton to taekwondo, tennis, and weightlifting.

Lando Norris has become Britain's 11th Formula 1 World champion, fulfilling what many in motorsport saw as a long-predicted destiny. Born in Bristol to Belgian-British parents and raised in Glastonbury, the 26-year-old began karting at eight and was on pole for first national event. Backed by his multimillionaire father Adam Norris and guided early on by manager Mark Berryman, his junior career consistently marked him as a future F1 contender. When the family lacked contacts as he moved into car racing, they approached Zak Brown, then a leading motorsport marketing executive, who initially thought, "this is not what I do," but relented because, as he put it, "everyone tells me he is the greatest thing since sliced bread." Brown says he realised Norris was the real deal "pretty much right away."

The African Arm Wrestling Championship is set to take place in Abuja in July. The President of the AFN, Samuel Jackson, has assured of Nigeria’s readiness to host the event and expressed confidence in the country’s athletes. Jackson stated that the team is highly motivated to compete against the best on the continent, particularly long-time rivals Egypt, as they continue to improve ahead of the 2027 African Games in Egypt. While acknowledging Egypt’s significant investment in the sport, Jackson remains optimistic about Nigeria’s ability to compete at the highest level.

The  Cross River State Government in partnership SRHD Sports Management say they are ready to make the state’s capital, Calabar, a hub of skating delight come April 2025 as it preparing to host the second African Skating Championship tagged Skate-a-thon 2025. Speaking Daniel Damola, CEO of SRHD Sports Management, the championship is scheduled for April 17 to 19 2025 and is expected to attract over 2,000 skaters from across the continent with capacity to bring a significant improvement to the local economy and boost tourism.“Skate-a-thon 2025 holds tremendous economic potential for the people of Cross River State and Nigeria,” he said.
