The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) commenced the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Friday with minimal glitches recorded, however, candidates who experienced the glitches were told to remain calm as they would be rescheduled. This was made known by the JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyode while addressing journalists after monitoring the exam in Kogo-Bwari, Abuja.

To reposition Nigerian education to suit the renewed hope agenda, President Bola Tinubu has approved three frameworks to improve the educational sector of the country. Accordingly, the framework is expected to painstakingly overhaul the education sector, enhance learning and skill development, increase enrolment as well as ensure the academic security of the nation’s children against men underworld. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, , made this known in a statement yesterday in Abuja.

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to assent to the Bill for an Act to Abolish and Prohibit Dichotomy and Discrimination between Bachelor Degree (B.Sc) and Higher National Diploma (HND).

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Education to include graduates of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, which was made known during the 13th Convocation of NOUN by the Deputy Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Biodun Saliu.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has postponed the 2024 entrance examinations into Federal Unity Colleges and the Federal Government Academy, Suleja, Niger State as a result of low enrollment which was made known in a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Council, Azeez Sani which stated that the common entrance which was earlier scheduled for April 20, 2024, would now take place on June 1, 2024.

The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman during an interview on Wednesday on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today stated that members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) could get half of their withheld salaries, pending approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
