The Oyo state government in collaboration with Global Partnership for Education (GPE), a World Bank-assisted programme has disbursed grants for the renovation of 58 public schools in the state. This was revealed by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu during a meeting with stakeholders in Ibadan on Monday.
Through the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim the Federal Government has announced its plans to empower at least 5,000 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with N10 million each to fund their entrepreneurial ventures after completing the NYSC scheme. Dr. Ibrahim disclosed this during the opening ceremony of the inaugural meeting of the NYSC management with heads of Corps Producing Institutions (CPI) in Nigeria, held on Monday in Abuja. She noted that this funding initiative aligns with the upcoming NYSC reforms and is distinct from the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund program set for 2024.
Following the aftermath of Boko Haram menace that rubbished school system in the northeast, stakeholders in the education sector from Adamawa, Bauchi and Gombe states have converged in Gombe to collaboratively tackle the issue of out-of-school children in the North East sub-region. The effort is being supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), as part of its contribution to mitigating the prevalence of out-of-school children to enhance retention, progression and completion rates in secondary education in the region.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has digitalized the recruitment process for both internal and external examination supervisors as well as assistant supervisors for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). This was made known in a statement issued by the Council which also stated that this development was to “check sharp practices in the recruitment process and to enhance efficiency and effective service delivery”.
