As a fall out of slamming its membership by the tripartite countries of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republics, the Economic Community Of West Africa, ECOWAS today through its ministers have convene an emergency meeting in Abuja, Nigeria. The ministers are expected to deliberate on the pros and cons of rejecting the membership of ECOWAS by the trio as well as to examine the mass protest that broke out in Senegal, following the postponement of the country’s presidential elections. 


ECOWAS Commission President, Dr. Alieu Touray, disclosed that the meeting will consider the notification of withdrawal of the three countries and strategically its wider implementations to the whole region. 

Recall, vigil360 reports that the three military-led West African countries had, on January 27, withdrew their membership of ECOWAS, accusing the body of abandoning the dream of its founding fathers to playing a pawn in the hand of colonisers which becoming a threat to its members.
