Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has warned young Nigerians travelling abroad to do so legitimately and with proper documentation to avoid obnoxious embarrassment to both themselves and the country. The NiDCOM Chairman made this call when she visited some Nigerians in one of their shelters in Brampton, Canada.
She called on others who are nursing the same idea of travelling out without proper documentation, to have a rethink before they arrive in a foreign country seeking asylum.
According to Dabiri-Erewa, just like their home country, the situation is getting tougher in many countries as well.
Pastor Vivian Eruka, who runs the Bethel food bank and works with those in shelters, informed the entourage that the Mayor of Brampton promised to make 800 more beds and shelters available for Nigerians seeking refuge in Canada,.
More so, Wale Rabiu, a Nigerian who owns a bakery, donated hundreds of loaves of Agege bread to the shelter inmates, while Bayo Adedosu, also a Nigerian living in Canada and an immigration consultant, also gave some words of counselling.
Meanwhile, Adedosu cautioned his countrymen to desist talking ill about their home country, Nigeria, to avoid future repercussions.
He equally urged them to be more patient and law-abiding people to earn the trust of the foreign country.
