Commendation has continued to trail the recent release of a Nigerian student detained by Saudi authorities over her alleged possession of banned narcotic substance, Zainab Aliyu. Ms Zainab was released on Tuesday even as she was spotted with officials of the Nigerian consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Her release followed a presidential directive to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami, SAN to intervene in her case.
Already social media is agog with praise for the prompt action taken by the Federal Government to secure her release. Prominent social media influencers such as Reno Omokri, Deji Adeyanju, Dr Harvey Olufunmilayo (A UK based Medical Doctor) and a host of others have commended the President. See their tweets below;
Securing the release of Zainab from execution in a Saudi prison is a great achievement by @MBuhari.She was due to be executed for a crime she never committed.Buhari saved her life by intervening and for the first time in 4 years I am proud to be a Nigerian! Welcome home Zainab!

I celebrate the @MBuhari government for securing Zainab Aliyu’s release in record breaking time. President Buhari is to be commended. Now, I urge the President to apply the same sense of urgency that he showed for Zainab towards Leah Sharibu and make #FreeLeahSharibu a reality pic.twitter.com/q0Zdc9ZkhJ

The Presidency has argued that President Buhari is working tirelessly round the clock to ensure that citizen diplomacy thrives under this administration. The lives of every Nigeria matters, those wrongfully accused of crimes they did not commit will be freed. The release of Zainab has lent credence to the fact that the administration is not resting on it oars until all security challenges are nipped in the bud and the lives of citizens secured.
