Following the call by the Nigerian labour Congress for industrial action yesterday, many top government officials, together with their armed escorts, business guests and hundreds of other Nigerians have been denied from entering the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja. As of 9.15 am a source disclosed that at the Airport entry lane down to some few kilometres, scores of vehicles carrying air passengers have gotten into a traffic jam stranded and have remained without room to manoeuvre over a distance of about four kilometres to the airport main gate.
The source revealed that “NLC people are protesting, they have blocked the entrance and there is no way of moving forward at all,” a police escort who was in a Hilux pickup vehicle that turned backwards after being unable to press towards the gate.
Meanwhile, the NLC are yet to make statement as to why they had to go and shut down the airport of all the places in Abuja.
It is believed that the protesting workers action may be connected to how the NLC president, Joe Ajaero who was badly treated in Imo state last week that has left him battered by the police allegedly on the order of the Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
